We didn't start Random Hare to build differently.
We started it because we had to.
Multi-million pound developments. Luxury apartments. Timber-frame structures. Barn conversions. After 28 years in construction, building and design, we'd done almost everything. What we hadn't done was build in a way that truly excited us: design-led, human-centred, free from the constraints of a broken industry.
Construction is true creativity. Through architecture and engineering, we can create new space and new ways of living that work better for us individually, and for wider society.
We have always believed that the built environment shapes how people feel, think, and live. But for most of our careers, that belief was buried under tight margins, rigid briefs, and an industry resistant to genuine design thinking.
We built what clients asked for. We delivered what the market rewarded. And we did it well. But we always felt constrained by a lack of innovation, a lack of good design, and a lack of reliable service at the craft end of the industry.
Random Hare is the answer to all of that. A studio small enough to care about every detail, experienced enough to execute without compromise, and free enough to pursue a genuine design philosophy rather than someone else's brief.
We design the spaces. We host the experience. We believe you should be able to live beyond the walls you've been handed, whether that means escaping to one of our cabins in the West Sussex countryside, or building something entirely your own.

We start with how you want to feel in a space, then work backwards to the structure. Not the other way around. Brief, budget, and building regulations come second to the life you're designing for.
Every build carries a unique serial number. Every structure comes with a full documentation pack. Every material choice has a reason. We believe the details are where the difference between ordinary and extraordinary actually lives.

We are based in West Sussex, working across the South of England and beyond. We are a small team by design. We take on fewer projects than most, because we believe the only way to do this well is to care deeply about each one.
